Is this the world's first elephant selfie?

Latabe the elephant used her trunk to take this elegant shot. Good work, Latabe.

AN ELEPHANT IN a UK zoo has taken what’s being called the world’s first ‘elfie’ – or elephant selfie.

Scott Brierly was taking pictures of the elephants at a Worcestershire safari park when he dropped his phone on the ground.

A 22-year-old female elephant, Latabe, walked towards the phone, and Scott assumed she had mistaken it for food.

He was wrong however – on retrieving his phone, he found Latabe had taken a cheeky selfie with her trunk.

He told the BBC:

I really couldn’t believe it when the phone came back. I pressed the centre button to check if it was still working and there it was – me and my friend were in shock.

Head keeper Andy Plumb said this was a first for the park, and they were “very proud” of Latabe’s selfie-taking skills.

She’s certainly working her angles. Move over Ellen, we’ve got a new candidate for the Best Selfie Ever.
